The curiosity of people about the peak is enormous as with such curiosity, Sushil Ranakoti decided that he will go for the Everest Base Camp if not Everest Summit due to its nature and the kind of finance you need for the same!

While, many people want to go for trekking in high attitude and their favorite choice is Everest Base Camp trek as ‘Everest’ name is attached to it. Only few are able to make it due to high altitude sickness. All you need is will power to reach Everest Base camp because Sherpa (The Nepali Climber) usually offer you food & stay on high altitude along with warm water and even offer solar electricity to charge your phone too. Well, they charge for everything they offer including mobile charge but at least you are getting such luxury at such height.

You can start hiking from either from Salleri or Phaplu & Takshindo La village. Depands on how you want to reach Everest Base Camp. It’s the longest trek and will take almost 12-13 days to reach EBC. To check one’s health before start trekking is recommended. This trail is more like warming up and training your mind and body for the high attitude. The main organ that gets trained extensively is your heart! Though such trail you will see, how everything changes from trees to climate to river and eventually no tree at the base camp. So much to explore though this trail starting from Salleri.

Day 1 : – Arrival at Kathmandu City.

Day 2 : – Drive to Salleri from Kathmandu (2362 meters): About 8 to 9 hours’ drive.

Day 3 : – Salleri to Takshindo Trek (3140 meters): About 5 to 6 hours.

Day 4 : – Takshindo to Kharikhola Trek (2250 meters): Approx. 7 hours.

Day 5 : – Kharikhola to Paiya Trek (3140 meters): Approx. 6 hours.

Day 6 : – Paiya to Phakding Trek (Altitude 2657 meters): About 6 to 7 hours.

Day 7 : – Phakding to Namche Bazaar Trek (3441 meters): Approx. 6 hours.

Day 8 : – Visit Syangboche and Khumjung Village (3780 meters)/ Acclimatization Day then, return back to Namche Bazaar: Approx. 5 hours

Day 9 : – Namche Bazaar to Tengboche trek (3860 meters): Walking for about 5 hours.

Day 10 : – Tengboche to Dingboche Trek (4350 meters): About 6 hours trek.

Day 11 : – Acclimatization Day /Explore Dingboche: Approx. 3 hours.

Day 12 : – Dingboche to Lobuche Trek (4910 meters): Walking 5 hours.

Day 13 : – Lobuche to Everest Base Camp trek (5365 meters), then trek back to Gorakshep: Approx. 8 hours trek

Day 14 : – Climb up to Kalapatthar (5643 meters) & trek back down to Pheriche (4200 meters): About 7 hours trek.

Day 15 : – Pheriche to Namche Bazaar trek (3441 meters): Approx. 7 hours.

Day 16 : – Namche Bazaar to Surke Trek (2421 meters): About 7 hours trek.

Day 17 : – Trek from Surke to Jubhing (1680 meters): About 7 hours trek.

Day 18 : – Trek to Ringmo from Jubhing (2720 meters): Trekking 5 to 6 hours.

Day 19 : – Trek to Salleri from Ringmo (2362 meters): About 4 hours trek.

Day 20 : – Drive back to Kathmandu from Salleri: About 8 to 9 hours’ drive.y

16 Days Trek from Khrikhola to Everest Base Camp and Back Kharikhola is another village where there are the road ends, further there is no road and one must walk ahead to reach Everest Base Camp. If you start from Kharikhola, your chances to reach Everest base Camp in 8-9 days days. While you have to stay in 2 days extra in 2 places to acclimatize. This for those who has less time and want to save 5-6 days while making it to Everest Base Camp.

Day 1 : – Drive to Kharikhola from Kathmandu (2250 meters): About 14 to 15 hours’ drive.

Day 2 : – Kharikhola to Paiya Trek (3140 meters): Approx. 6 hours.

Day 3 : – Paiya to Phakding Trek (Altitude 2657 meters): About 6 to 7 hours.

Day 4 : – Phakding to Namche Bazaar Trek (3441 meters): Approx. 6 hours.

Day 4 : – Acclimatization Day in Namche – 3700 m / 12139 ft – 4 to 5 hrs

Day 5 : – Namche to Tengboche – 3956 m / 12979 ft – 5 to 6 hrs

Day 6 : – Tengboche to Dingboche – 4380 m / 14370 ft – 4 to 5 hrs

Day 7 : – Acclimatization Day in Dingboche – 4380 m / 14370 ft – 3 to 4 hrs

Day 8 : – Dingboche to Lobuche – 4938 m / 16200 ft – 4 to 5 hrs

Day 9 : – Lobuche to Gorakshep (Afternoon hike to Kalapatthar) – 5160 m / 16929 ft – 6 to 7 hrs

Day 10 : – Gorakshep to Pheriche (Morning hike to EBC) – 4371 m / 14340 ft – 8 to 9 hrs

Day 11 : – Pheriche to Namche – 3440 m / 11286 ft – 6 to 7 hrs

Day 12 : – Namche to Lukla - 2860 m / 9383 ft -7 hr

Day 13 : – Lukla to Kathmandu (Flight)Kathmandu – 30 min

The government of Nepal charges certain amount to all the tourist trekking to Everest Base camp. As one must be entering Sagarmatha National Park, the Entry Permit required which you can buy for NPR 3000 Per Person. Another fee that Nepal Government charges is Khumbu Pasang Lhamu Rural Municipality Entrance Permit (NPR 2000 Per Person). And it varies for international people and people from SAARC counties. Trust us, when you will go to Everest Base Camp you won’t care much about these charges and would rather wish to finish such business quickly!
